The Fitness and Understanding Nutrition (FUN) program focuses on motivation, nutrition and fitness. We are looking to educate the children on several factors being, the secrets to success, how to eat healthily and to provide them with some knowledge on health and fitness in general.
BWC believes these areas have been seriously neglected over the years resulting in large numbers of eating disorders within children, declining fitness levels and a lack of knowledge on health and well-being. We believe in addressing these areas, which can also aid in bridging the gap of life expectancy.
Our presentations will be divided into four sections, as follows:
This is an interactive presentation covering "The Secrets to Success":
A presentation on Nutrition which will be fully endorsed by a Nutritionist, including the following:
Practical sessions on physical activity, including the following:
A one (1) hour education and information session for community leaders to educate them on correct nutritional habits and requirements and some guidelines for health and fitness.
We will provide the children with healthy meals during each presentation to reinforce healthy eating habits. We will provide handouts in relation to each of the categories covered in our presentation, along with our website address where the children can obtain extra information.
The goals of the program are to encourage Aboriginal children to be active by involving them in a wide range of activities and sports and enhancing their individual skills and teaching them the art of teamwork.
They will also learn the benefits of being self motivated and other ideas that will allow them to become successful individuals. Informing them of their nutritional requirements will aid in healthier eating habits also reinforced by community leaders educated through program.
