DesArtSea Productions

DesertSea Productions is a project based company that recognises and supports the uniqueness of Indigenous Australian arts allowing for the diversity within individual nations and Torres Strait Islander cultures. DesertSea focuses on supporting the Indigenous Arts sector by providing a strong management basis, and sound production team, to assist in a successful process and deliverance of productions. DesartSea specifically focuses on collaboration and partnerships with other existing organisations and Indigenous artists.

DesArtSea Productions has five focuses in creating value and worth towards Indigenous arts both traditional and contemporary practice;

  • create an Indigenous production house that assists in stimulating professional Indigenous artists within their chosen creative endeavours;
  • provide a base in which the practice is securely maintained by providing a management team that will assist in producing a financially sound well managed bases to work from;
  • offer support for emerging artists (youth) through the production house;
  • provide traineeships and workshops for youths; and
  • Conservation of unique and endangered art forms from remote communities by establishing a record by media/film documentation.

THE PURPOSE OF DESARTSEA PRODUCTIONS:

  • Establish a project based Production Company experienced in producing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander story and artistic endeavours through theatre and multimedia expression.
  • Encourage value & worth to Indigenous Arts both Traditional and Contemporary and cross cultural practice.
  • Accommodate to needs, understanding the vastness of Indigenous artists across the country and accommodating to their needs by providing residency programs, and in future, a stable location with accommodation facilities offices and studios for practical work and creative development process, leading to conservation practices for endangered indigenous arts.
  • Encourage access to allow Indigenous artists to develop and workshop creative ideas through an organisation that will be Aboriginal owned and run, and an approachable space to ATSI artists to practice.
  • Responsible management team - DesArtSea aims to recognise and protect the interests of the artists, e.g. Intellectual Property, resale royalties, reward rates, contractual agreements etc.
